Development Background

Over the past 2 years, we have accumulated a lot of feedback from CNC users. The newbies think it is very complicated to set the right parameters such as engraving speed, depth per pass, plunge rate, and so on. The seasoned machinists believe desktop CNCs, such as the 4040-XE, are still not strong enough to cut aluminum and brass easily and precisely. So FoxAlien keeps on thinking to find a solution to satisfy both the newbies and the veterans. What if we can bring a machine that has more room for the new user to make errors, even if the settings are not perfect, they can still carve with nice results. What if this machine can meet the experienced user's requirements to engrave and cut soft metal easily. Now, we are introducing the best CNC Router Machine in FoxAlien’s family. The CNC Machine Vasto upgrades everything: the linear bearings, the extrusions, the ball screws, the motors and the controller box (independent drivers for each axis). This machine comes with the 400W spindle stock. In order to release the full potential of this Monster, we strongly recommend upgrading to the DeWalt DWP611 or the Makita Router. (DeWalt and Makita router are not included)

Not Particularly Happy Yet

Hello,
Yes, I did receive the new Vasto router machine a few days ago. The packaging was good for the across the world trip it made. First checking the parts, everything looked good. Assembly was good, directions were clear and easy to understand.

Upon power up to do some testing, found that the Y1 motor was not turning. Swapped the cables of Y1 to Y2 and got Y1 turning, but Y2 did not turn. Emailed support to find out what was wrong, got a response after two days, but they needed more information about the problem and maybe a video of the problem.

Made a video of the problem and sent that off. Received an email back with a list of possible solutions. Performed the first procedure of removing the cover on the control box and checking the cable connectors. Found that the Y1 cable to the motherboard was loose, almost disconnected. I reseated the cable and check all other cables ensuring each was seated properly. Reassembled the control box and tested, Y1 motor was turning, and the other functions seemed to be working well.

Next, to test some functions in software. I have an Easel Pro account and have been using a Yorahome 3036 for about the last year and was happy with the results, gaining experience with the machine and software. Then came a serve thunderstorm and a lightning strike near my home, USB com from the machine was dead, repair of the 3036 was not possible, it had been discontinued.

So, here I am with a new Vasto machine setting it up in Easel. Seemed fairly straightforward. Ran my first test to cut a 9-inch circle I needed for a project. The circle came out 12 ½ inches :( no good. Rechecked my measurements and settings did more tests, still no good. I had been given a list of GRBL settings from support when dealing with the first problem of the Y1 motor. I made sure those GRBL settings were correct. Still the measurements were not correct. Through some Easel trouble shooting videos I found recalibrating X, Y, and Z. ( I did not have these problem when I set up my Yorahome 3036 machine last year)

I did the calibration and got the proper measurements of the circle cut, but then other problems arose. One test, the circle cut was ok, but after the finish, Z did not raise to clear the material, it plowed through the material and jamming itself up to a stop. The machine did not return to home position because of the overload of plowing through the piece.

I deleted other machine profiles in the software, only had one Vasto profile. Made up a new project to cut a circle, the cut was ok, but the machine would not home after finishing and the router motor would not turn off. Even clicking the Stop button in Easel would not turn it off.

I import the g-code from Easel to the Candle software and test the circle project. The circle size was proper, but the machine would not home afterwards. And again the motor would not turn off. I tested the g-code projects that came with the machine, the Smiley.nc, and that seemed to run ok, the machine did home after finishing.
So, I am not particularly happy right now, I did not have this much trouble when setting up and using my Yorahome 3036 machine. I have a feeling that the Easel software does not play well with FoxAlien machines. Is there a better design software that the FoxAlien machines work with? Easel seems to be more for X-carve

Vasto is a Monster ! And shipping to france is very fast !

After owned an 4040XE, and been frustrated by the belts ans the woobles, i go to spend more 1000 bucks, to have this monster !

And no regrets ! The 3 boxes come to me in only 4 days !
The assembly is very easy, i have an 1.5kw spindle on it, to liberate the awesome power of this beast.

The CNC is more giant than the photos show haha, i have builded an enclosure for my old 4040XE, and the Vasto is a little more giant, but no problems to insert it in.
I prevent you, you need an another person, if you want to move it after building haha.

So, after that, no woobles on all axis, the machine is very solid, it's awesome, with an spoilboard, the bed is prety solid too, i use the Vasto for my buisness, to carve on oak, and thinking for aluminium, and if i need another CNC, i'm goint to rebuy it !

5 Stars to FoxAlien, for this awesome machine, for the fast delivery, and the fast answer to my questions !

Finally got to try it

I received my Vasto Machine in early December and was able to assemble it in under an hour due to its extremely user friendly set up. Unfortunately, due to an extreme work schedule I was no able to test it until today and I must say I was not at all disappointed. The machine moves with extreme precision and the software itself was easy to use and understand. Very much looking forward to working with it more!

WEll, due to my job as being an emergency doctor within red cross I didn't have the time to completely build the machine only the base table. But being honestly it is such a beatiful build machine that it makes a great pleasure to watch it in my spare time. While moving from Lower Austria to Styria it will take some time to finish this beauty.

Solid machine

Easy to assemble, and so far, after a few carvings, seems like a solid machine.

Amazing price for these capabilitys

Its a great little machine. It cuts aluminum fine. Even with the stock spindel it works. Great pricing for sutch a capable machine. Have been using it for about 2 weeks now and have no complaints.

Rigid Frame And Nice Build Quality.

Great CNC router. Packaged really well for the abuse it took getting to me. Easy to put together. Docs are easy to follow. Runs well out of the box. Taking a star off because of the lack of rigid work surface. A very rigid frame is ruined by a weak table. I knew this from doing my research and have already added a middle support to help address the issue. Should be shipped with the middle support.
