I am so GLAD that FoxAlien came out with this CnC machine. I have a Masuter 3S with the 8040 extension. This however wasn't large enough for the work I was doing. Was about to purchase a different machine when I saw this on James Dean Designs, one of my go to Youtuber's for CnC. It's perfect for what I need, ordered it right away and took advantage of the JDD discount code that was offered. The machine works GREAT, very smooth and precise. Setting it up was easy if you take your time and read and follow the instructions. I also ordered the 4th Axis Rotary, and the laser rotary roller. These items are for my business and I found the price to be very compelling for what you get. There is only two things I would like to see changed on the control box. Put the laser/VFD input back to the front of the machine like it was on the Masuter 3S controller. Makes switching from my Laser to VFD so much simpler, or have two separate inputs that you can flick a switch between. Also have the USB port on the front would make it simpler to unplug and plug. Both these ports are on the rear bottom below all the cabling for the CnC. Makes it more difficult to plug and unplug and I worry that I'll ruin the plugs. Those are just minor annoyances. I've already produced over 30 items on the CnC and just find it to work very well. I would recommend this machine to anyone looking for a 840mmx840mm work area. Who knows maybe by the time I need a larger machine FoxAlien will have one lol. Just a shameless plug, all my CnC's are FoxAlien as well as the accessories. I have found the quality to be very good and haven't had any issues with any of the items. They all work as advertised. I did have a couple of questions and while the Customer Service is via email my questions were answered the next day. Given CS is located in China so a bit of a time zone issue I would say they answered very promptly and answered my questions more then adequately.
Easy to assemble, powerful and silent spindle (buyed) separately, good components quality.
The XE-Ultra is a well built capable high end hobbyist machine. A lot of machine for a very low price.. It is robust sturdy and works great with GSender and VCarve pro. The only issues I have had have not been with the machine. The customer services is slow to respond and as it doesn't have a UK distributer there is a delay in time with China getting back to you. They are trying and it is probably an effect of the fact that there profit margins aren't high enough too employ a UK specialist distributer. If they did and they had a years warranty instead of 3 months I think they would become the best selling CNC in the UK. I think a lot of people would pay a bit more for this piece of mind.
After spending time with the XE-Ultra 8080, I’m confident giving it 5 stars for value and quality. The frame is sturdy, motion is smooth, and it holds calibration well. It’s the kind of machine that rewards a careful setup—once you square it up and tune it, it just works.
For what you pay, the capability you get is impressive. It’s been a reliable workhorse for my workshop and a great base for upgrades as you grow.
